About EGEIS
As the major manufacturers of glyphosate in the EU, Cheminova, Monsanto and Syngenta are funding an independent group of European experts to respond to the directive including glyphosate on Annex I. This group is reviewing the environmental fate of glyphosate with particular reference to the condition of Annex I listing:
'Member States must pay particular attention to the protection of the groundwater in vulnerable areas, in particular with respect to non-crop uses.'
EGEIS (European Glyphosate Environmental Information Source) is based on input from an Independent Expert Group composed of the following leading European Environmental scientists:

The information developed and summarized by the independent experts is being presented in a novel interactive web-site format, incorporating information from the EU Review and other sources, the web site will focus on:
- Weed control in non-agricultural areas
- Glyphosate analytical methods
- Review of surface and groundwater monitoring results
- Review of best practice in agricultural and non-agricultural areas
- Fate of glyphosate and its metabolite
- Changes to the EU regulatory framework relevant to glyphosate use
In its first release this will be available only to competent authorities, but it is intended to make it more widely available to interested parties.
